The Lost Subway Station

Part of

collection

One of Toronto’s “lost” subway stations is hiding in plain sight beneath Bay Station.

Built in 1966 as part of an experimental TTC track configuration, the lower platform operated for only a short period before being closed to the public the very same year. Though no longer used for regular service, the abandoned platform still exists beneath the station today.
Over the years, the space has become a popular filming location, appearing in movies, television shows, and commercials — making Toronto’s “lost” station surprisingly familiar on screen.
