Discover Toronto’s stories with your students.

Discover Toronto’s stories with your students.

The Museum of Toronto now offers schools visits designed to spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and invite dialogue about the city’s diverse histories and futures. Rooted in inquiry and storytelling, our programs connect curriculum with the city – bringing the students to our exhibitions and Toronto to the classroom. Whether you’re teaching history, civics, geography, art, or social studies, our educator-led experiences bring the city’s complex past and dynamic present to life.

Booking Request Form

If you are interested in booking a visit, please fill out the form below. We do ask that you book at least three weeks in advance so that we can prepare the best possible experience for your group. We will ask for your name, contact information, educational goals, and any details we should be aware of in anticipation of your arrival. Once the form is completed and submitted, we will reach out to you to confirm the specifics.

Who are school visits designed for?

We welcome students from Grade 1 to Grade 12. Programs are tailored to be age-appropriate and curriculum-connected.

A typical visit can be broken down into this general schedule:

Arrival: 15-20 Minutes
Guided Tour: 30 Minutes
Activity: 60 minutes
Departure: 15-20 Minutes

TOTAL: approximately 2 hours

If you require a shorter stay, please let us know in your Booking Request Form submission.

Our space can comfortably accommodate up to 30 people, not including volunteer supervisors or teachers. If your group is larger than that, then we would ask that you split the group into two smaller groups, or contact us separately to work towards another solution. We would like to ask that you bring enough supervision for your group – ideally one supervisor or instructor per 6 students – to keep the students focused and attentive to our rules.

Right now, we are offering these tours and activities for free as part of our current exhibition, The 52: Women Who Transformed Toronto. You will need to take care of your own transportation to get to our site at 401 Richmond Street West. We do accept and greatly appreciate personal donations, but it is entirely optional.

Our museum is located just through the east entrance of the 401 Richmond building. Our space and the building itself does have accessibility ramps, an elevator, gender-neutral and accessible washrooms, and wayfinding maps. If you require additional accommodations, please make a note of it in your submitted form.

We only offer our tours in English. We can do our best to accommodate ESL groups, but if you do require translation, we ask that you provide your own.

While our museum does not have a dedicated lunch space, 401 Richmond does have plenty of public seating areas, including benches adjacent to our gallery space as well as a rooftop patio.
