Donald Moore
This scene portrays the historic event of Porters travelling to Ottawa to demand greater citizenship rights for Black people. Performed by Derick Agyemang and Daniel Jelani Ellis.

Donald Moore was born in Barbados and immigrated to Canada where he worked as a sleeping car porter, but he found the working conditions difficult and demeaning. Eventually he established a small business in Toronto but he continued to be a main spokesman for the Black communities. In 1951, Moore established the Negro Citizenship Association which organized the 1954 delegation by members of the Black community to call on the Canadian government to open up Canadian immigration to non-white people.
